In continuation of our letter of the 3rd, of

January, I have the honour to transmit for the information of

the Colonial Government copies of correspondence which we have

had with the Consulting Engineers as to local contracts made

by the Resident Engineer of the Railway for the supply of

imported articles.

The Governor should perhaps know that the

placing of a local order by the Resident Engineer for a

considerable number of sleepers led to a question being asked

on the subject in Parliament last year.
